Once Dickie satisfied our curiosity, Mary and I weighted the three bodies with anchor chain and dropped them in 1,500 feet of water. By the time we cleaned up the mess aboard Island Girl and returned to our anchorage in Admiralty Bay, it was almost four a.m.

While Mary showered, I uploaded the audio file of Dickie's interrogation to our secure website. I appended a message for Aaron, giving a quick summary of our early morning activities and suggesting he call us once he listened to the recording. By then, it was my turn to shower. Mary was already asleep when I crawled into my berth.

We slept until almost seven, when the sun coming through the port lights woke us up. We made a pot of coffee and fixed a quick breakfast. Aaron called as we were about to do the dishes.

"You've been busy," he said, once we were through with the preliminaries.

"Just a brief interlude during an otherwise restful night," I said. "What did you make of Dickie's story?"

"Interesting. That's the first sign we've had that these people include violence in their bag of tricks. Until now, all we've heard is that they provoke others to take physical action. They're beginning to look like a full-fledged terrorist organization now. Norris was the money guy, Dixon broadcasts their propaganda, and Dickie Balch was part of field operations, for lack of a better term. Typical that he could only name his immediate boss — no clue who his boss reports to, or how many others there are like himself. They're organized into small cells of a few people each."

"The way he reacted the first time we mentioned Savannah made us think he might know something about the people working on that voice cloning equipment," Mary said.

"I didn't catch that in the recording you sent me. Did I miss something?"

"No. It was before we started in on him," I said. "Not in the recording."

"It was while he was still preening," Mary said. "He was busy groping me, right before we turned the tables on them. He'd just asked us to guess who he was. Finn commented on his southern accent and asked if he was from north Florida."

"He had that kind of cracker twang," I said. "His response was something like, 'Close, but I'm from south Georgia.'"

"When he said that, I asked if he was from Savannah," Mary said. "He got a funny look on his face. Then I head-butted him and we went from there. When we revisited the topic of Savannah with him later, it turned out that his mother was from there. That was why he looked surprised. He didn't know anything about the hackers, or voice cloning."

"He was pretty forthcoming," Aaron said.

"Mary was giving a good impression of being a full-blown psychopath. He just wanted us to kill him and get it over with."

"Oh, knock it off, Finn. All I did was trim one toenail. So, I cut a little below the nail. The boat was rocking."

"That was after you kneecapped him and crushed his family jewels, not to mention threatening to put his eye out.
